NFL Week 14 odds: Making a case for each underdog

The fourth quarter of the 2020 NFL regular season is upon us, and there are a bevy of underdogs looking for a key win in NFL Week 14.

New England Patriots at Los Angeles Rams (-5)

Bill Belichick is the master of making life miserable on quarterbacks who struggle with complex schemes. He’ll keep it close against Jared Goff.

Arizona Cardinals (-2) at New York Giants

The Giants have won four straight while the Cardinals have lost four of their previous five. New York should be outright favored here.

Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) at Cincinnati Bengals

Dallas is cooked emotionally, and the Bengals are a young team with offensive weapons still playing hard. Cincinnati is outclassed, but staying within a field goal at home is reasonable.

Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers (-3.5)

The Panthers are dealing with some COVID problems and could one again be without the banged-up Christian McCaffrey. Tough defense in Denver as well.

Houston Texans (-1) at Chicago Bears

The Bears are at home against a horrid Texans’ defense. Deshaun Watson is great, but Chicago’s defense is good enough to cause problems.

Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are both 7-1 straight up and against the spread over their last eight games. Kansas City likely wins, but Miami can cover.

Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5)

Minnesota is back in the playoff picture and is playing to earn a huge victory. The Bucs are the better team, but 6.5 points is plenty against a potent Vikings attack.

Tennessee Titans (-7.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville is at home, Mike Glennon has played reasonably well and the rookie weapons of James Robinson and Laviska Shenault are considerable against a bad Titans defense.

Indianapolis Colts (-3) at Las Vegas Raiders

If there’s ever a case to be made for a desperate team, this is it. After getting blown out by Atlanta and almost beaten by the winless Jets, the Raiders will bring everything they have.

New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks (-13.5)

I mean, miracles happen.

Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) at Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers and Falcons are basically the same team. This is a coin flip with the question being who blows the big lead.

Green Bay Packers (-7.5) at Detroit Lions

Detroit is the upset special of the week. At home, a game out of the playoffs, rid of Matt Patricia. It all adds up to a very close inter-division game.

New Orleans Saints (-7) at Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts could prove to be the tonic Philadelphia needs, even if it’s a short-lasting shot in the arm.

Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers (-3)

Washington has an excellent front seven, a real head coach and quarterback, and are facing a very banged-up Niners squad.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

This line switched all the way across. Pittsburgh is a wounded team trying to rebound from its first loss. If the Steelers can pressure Josh Allen, they can create turnovers.

Baltimore Ravens (-1) at Cleveland Browns

Cleveland is 9-3 and a home underdog to the Ravens. It’s all about being able to run against Baltimore’s front.
