NFL Week 2: Ranking games from best to worst
The second week of the NFL season is underway, and there’s a very good chance we’ve already seen thew post it has to offer. The Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans got into something resembling a pillow fight on Thursday night, with the Texans winning 13-9.
But what about the other 15 games? How do they stack up? We’ll rank them from worst to first:
15. Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts
This game is going to break people. Physically, emotionally, you name it. The Cardinals are terrible, and they’ll win by 30.
14. New York Jets at Oakland Raiders
Basically the same as above, except that the Raiders’ offense isn’t terrible, and they might win by 50. The jets will struggle to win a game this season.
13. San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
At least this tire fire is going to be a divisional contest. The 49ers have some defensive building blocks, but they might not score a point on Sunday.
12. Buffalo Bills at Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are the better team, but they aren’t fun to watch with Cam Newton still getting healthy. The Bills are absolutely rancid. This could be ugly.
11. Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I’m actually intrigued by the Buccaneers, but not by the Bears. They gave their best performance of the season last week and lost, plus lost Jerrell Freeman and Kevin White to injuries. Yikes.
10. Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Any game involving the Browns isn’t getting moved up very high on the list. Still, the Ravens are decent and DeShone Kizer makes me keep an eye on this one.
9. Washington Redskins at Los Angeles Rams
Sean McVay gets a chance to beat his old team, and frankly, I think he does so.
8. Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers play their first home game in Los Angeles since 1960 as an expansion team. The Dolphins play their first game of the season. Who has more juice?
7. Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee has to win this game to get the train rolling. If Jacksonville wins, do we start to look at it in a different light (no, but it’s a fun question).
6. New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints
Tom Brady will throw for 500 yards. Drew Brees might also throw for 500 yards.
5. Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos
It’s going to be fun watching Dallas’ offense take on Denver’s defense. Can Dak Prescott beat that secondary? Will Ezekiel Elliott go over 100 yards? So many storylines.
4. Detroit Lions at New York Giants
The Giants have to get off the mat, but the Lions looked really good in Week 1. I’m interested to see how Matthew Stafford plays against this elite secondary.
3. Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs
Andy Reid against his old team, and a suddenly high-octane Chiefs team. Arrowhead should be absolutely rocking with a good Eagles squad in town.
2. Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers
This is basic but intriguing. Can the Vikings’ defense stop Pittsburgh’s offense? If it can, we could see an upset in the Steel City.
1. Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons
This is a race to 30 points and perhaps beyond. What a great way to ring in a new stadium in Atlanta.
