NFL Week 3: 5 best lines
The NFL’s third week is kicking off on Thursday night when the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams. It might not be the most enticing game, but hey, somebody has to play.
This weekend’s games are a bit better, and these are the five games to put some money on, if you’re so inclined.
5. New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (-6)
On the surface, this game looks like a mismatch. The Giants are 0-2 and look every bit a team on the way down to the bottom of the NFC East. However, the Eagles have their own set of issues. Philadelphia is a very talented team, but it also has holes. The secondary isn’t good and the offense goes in fits, with Carson Wentz throwing far too many 50/50 balls. New York’s offensive line should keep it from winning outright, but look for a close contest.
Bet: Giants cover. Eagles win
4. Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
This game is in London, putting these two teams on a neutral field. The Ravens are undefeated and playing terrific defense, taking 10 turnovers to the bank. This week, the Ravens play Blake Bortles, who is always good for an interceptions or two. Jacksonville likely plays well defensively in this game, but Baltimore is the better team that won’t beat itself.
Bet: Ravens win and cover
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (-8) at Chicago Bears
The Steelers should win this game by two touchdowns. Pittsburgh will haven problem throwing the ball against a secondary comprised of Marcus Cooper, Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara. In addition, the Bears are without Jerrell Freeman in the middle, giving Le’Veon Bell license to run wild. Unless Mike Glennon has the game of his life, this is over by halftime.
Bet: Steelers win and cover
2. Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are always talked about as a talented team that can’t get it done due to injuries and bad luck. Whatever the reason, they are 9-25 in their last 34 regular-season contests. Look for the Chiefs, whoa re the most impressive team to this point in 2017, to go into the StubHub Center and roll. Los Angeles has no answer for Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, while Kansas City should get ample pressure on Philip Rivers.
Bet: Chiefs win and cover
1. Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers (-10)
The Packers are coming home, where they are dominant, after a rough loss on the road to the Atlanta Falcons. Cincinnati has had an extra three days to prepare for this contest, but it did so after firing its offensive coordinator. Frankly, it would be stunning if the Bengals, who are yet to score a touchdown, find a way to win this game. Even covering is a big stretch.
Bet: Packers win and cover
