Antonio Brown blasts Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger for ‘owner mentality’
The Antonio Brown era of the Pittsburgh Steelers is seemingly coming to an end. The superstar wideout has asked to be traded and all signs point to that request being granted at some point during the NFL offseason.
Although Brown’s trade request dominated the headlines this past week, perhaps a more telling look into the drama in Pittsburgh was revealed in a tweet from the perennial Pro Bowler. Brown took a massive shot at veteran quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion, Ben Roethlisberger.

No conflict just a matter of respect! Mutual respect! He has a owner mentality like he can call out anybody including coaches. Players know but they can’t say anything about it otherwise they meal ticket gone. It’s a dirty game within a game. #truth https://t.co/MsSyBVd3Ny

The tension between Roethlisberger and Brown hit a boiling point heading into the team’s regular-season finale. It was a must-win game and Brown was held out due to an altercation between him and the star quarterback.
Obviously, this comment stems from the relationship between the two which appears to be unrepairable. This marks what will be a crazy offseason filled with some drastic changes for the storied NFL franchise.

Along with Brown being headed for the door in a potential blockbuster trade this offseason, star running back Le’Veon Bell also seems to be on his way out. The Steelers are rumored to be considering using a transition tag on Bell which would complicate things, but Bell will almost certainly suit up elsewhere resulting in Pittsburgh losing two of the best offensive players in the NFL in the same offseason.
Fortunately for Pittsburgh, the team saw two stars emerge during the 2018 campaign. JuJu Smith-Schuster became a formidable force downfield while James Conner showed he can replace Bell.
Needless to say, the Steelers will look different next season, but may not miss a beat.
