Brock Purdy always wanted to remain with 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have their franchise quarterback in place for the long haul after securing Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million contract extension.
It was a long journey for Purdy to get to this point, as he faced questions concerning his long-term future in San Francisco after the 49ers’ disappointing 2024 season.
Despite that, Purdy never wavered in his desire to work toward securing a new contract to keep him where he wanted to be.
“I think where we ended up was exactly where we needed to be,” Purdy said via ESPN. “I’m extremely happy with where we ended and I know the Niners are, too. … However they use the cap space and all that kind of stuff, that’s not my job. My job is to now go and win games and lead this team, but I’m extremely happy and grateful for where we ended.”
Purdy’s new deal is the fifth-highest among quarterbacks while also taking home $181 million guarantees along with a full no-trade clause, which is the first in team history.

His $53 million per season is tied for the seventh highest in the league, while his new deal doesn’t start until the 2026 season. The 49ers are now fully committed to Purdy as their franchise cornerstone for the foreseeable future.
It has been a busy offseason for San Francisco as it also secured tight end George Kittle and linebacker Fred Warner to new lucrative extensions that keep them as pillars of the franchise.
