Cardinals’ Jacoby Brissett Standoff Just Took an Interesting Turn

As the Arizona Cardinals move through the offseason, they remain without quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who is far apart in contract talks with the organization.

According to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, the Cardinals and Brissett are not close to reworking his current deal to bring him back into the fold.

A source told ESPN that the two sides are “significantly” far apart.

The veteran quarterback is aiming to garner a new contract as he’s in the second year of his two-year deal that he inked last offseason. He is making $4.88 million, with the opportunity to increase it to $5.39 million through incentives, while only $1.5 million is guaranteed.

This pales in comparison to Gardner Minshew’s March deal, which guarantees $5.14 million for the 2026 season.

Brissett’s push for a new, reworked contract comes after the Cardinals moved on from Kyler Murray, pushing him into the starter role. He is aiming for more job security and financial commitment from Arizona, especially with the starting job being his to begin the 2026 season.

The 33-year-old is coming off a productive campaign, where he posted career-best numbers with 3,366 passing yards, 23 touchdown passes to eight interceptions, and a 94.1 passer rating. This featured notching 10 games with multiple touchdown passes, along with four games with at least 300 passing yards, topped by 452 passing yards against the San Francisco 49ers.

Although the two sides remain far apart, it should be a matter of time before they work out a new deal to get him back well before the start of the 2026 season.
