Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid settled grievance with NFL for much less than initially rumored
Earlier this year, it was reported that former San Francisco 49rs quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid had settled their grievance case against the NFL.
However, there wasn’t any clarity in terms of how much they both received from the case. This has finally been cleared up as they will get $10 million total, according to ESPN.
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and current Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid settled their collusion grievances against the NFL, but according to a Wall Street Journal report, they will receive less than $10 million total.
There had previously been reports that they had received around $65-70 million from the case. Since those original reports, those numbers have continued to drop as time has passed in the weeks that have gone by following the conclusion of that matter.
This latest revelation has only brought some finality to the matter. However, Kaepernick is still out of the league as he has yet to get a chance to latch onto another team since declining his option from the 49ers.
There was recent talk that he was interested in joining the Miami Dolphins, but that chatter hasn’t gathered any momentum from the Dolphins expressing any mutual interest in that possibility.
Meanwhile, Reid was able to latch onto the Panthers last season, where he played himself into a significant role with the team. This has helped him earn a three-year, $22 million deal with Carolina that runs through the 2021 season with $9 million guaranteed.
