Commanders star Terry McLaurin continues to deal with quad injury

Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin remains sidelined, dealing with a quad injury that has forced him to miss a fourth straight game.

McLaurin did not play against NFC East division rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 action, leaving the Commanders without one of their primary offensive weapons.

Head coach Dan Quinn underlined the difficulty the Ohio State product has had in his recovery from the injury.

“It’s frustrating for him because he’s working at it hard,” Quinn said via ESPN.

The 30-year-old has been limited to just three games this season, posting 10 catches on 17 targets for 149 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.

Before the start of the season, Washington inked him to a three-year, $97 million contract extension that runs through the 2028 season. It includes $44.6 million in guarantees and a $30 million signing bonus.

McLaurin’s absence has left the Commanders’ passing game in a bit of a bind without one of their top receiving options. Things have only progressively gotten more challenging with wideout Noah Brown being placed on injured reserve earlier this week.

Meanwhile, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been working through a bruised heel. He’s remained productive, posting 34 catches for 315 receiving yards and three touchdowns before Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

Washington has stayed afloat, holding a 3-3 record before Week 7 action, but it has become a steeper hill to climb to stay in contention for the NFC East division behind the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
