Cowboys’ Micah Parsons makes interesting comments on Mike McCarthy’s job status

The Dallas Cowboys are headed in a downward spiral after the team lost their sixth game of the season in Week 10 to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles in convincing fashion at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Along with the team losing for the fourth time in a row, Dallas likely won’t get star quarterback Dak Prescott back on the field this season as he deals with a hamstring injury, which has turned out to be worse than expected. Backup Cooper Rush and Trey Lance will shoulder the load at quarterback from here on out, and that doesn’t bode well for the team’s chances of making the NFL playoffs, nor is it good for head coach Mike McCarthy’s job status.

After losing to the Eagles, superstar linebacker Micah Parsons spoke to the media and made some interesting comments about his head coach and what the future may hold for McCarthy in Dallas via Todd Archer of ESPN.

“That’s above my pay grade, if Mike’s coach again next year,” Parsons said. “All coaching aside, Mike can leave and go where he wants to. Guys I kind of feel bad for is guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year, on their way out, because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for.

“You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did. So, those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”

It didn’t take long before Parsons realized the impact of his comments about McCarthy and addressed them on his podcast this week via ESPN.

Parsons on Monday said on his podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” that, “I never once threw, or even intended to throw, Mike McCarthy under the bus.”

Although Parsons denies throwing McCarthy under the bus, the damage might be done for the veteran head coach this season, as it seems unlikely the Cowboys will turn things around, which means he could get fired once the 2024 campaign is officially over.
