Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has thought about bringing Dez Bryant back
Since being let go from the Dallas Cowboys back in 2017, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant has remained on the open market. Bryant has stayed in shape towards working his way back into the NFL, which has ramped up over the last few weeks.
That discussion also dipped over to potential interest in rejoining the Cowboys, which Bryant recently voiced that he would entertain that possibility if were there. It’s something that team owner Jerry Jones touched upon on Thursday as he admitted that he has thought about that scenario. (H/T Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk)
“I’ve thought a lot about it in the shower,” Jones said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
That is interesting to hear that Jones has at least given that possible move a thought. Bryant’s recent uptick in personal workouts that include the help of reigning Super Bowl MVP has given some real consideration towards a return to the NFL.
There is no certainty of what type of player he would be at this stage of his career, but he could be a factor in the passing game to some degree. His workouts show that he’s still in strong physical shape, which could earn him a shot to get back into the league.
The Cowboys could have a leg up in that regard if they pursue that route given his familiarity with the organization. Nonetheless, this at least puts that potential scenario on the table for him this offseason.
