Cowboys QB Dak Prescott reveals when he hopes to have deal done
Throughout much of the offseason, the focus around the Dallas Cowboys has remained on Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract situation.
Prescott is in the final year of his four-year, $160 million deal, but there hasn’t been any serious movement toward working out an extension. Even with that unresolved matter around him, the 31-year-old isn’t letting it consume his focus ahead of the 2024 season.

“I’m not putting that much thought into hoping it gets done now, hoping it gets done in a couple of weeks, during the season, or whenever it happens,” Prescott said via ESPN. “I just know conversations are on the right way.”
Prescott appears to be more than comfortable playing the 2024 season without a new deal. He had stated earlier this offseason that he would be open to exploring scenarios of playing for another team if he’s unable to work out a new contract with Dallas.
“I enjoy being a Cowboy 1,000 percent, enjoy living in Dallas, enjoy everything about it,” Prescott said. “But this is a business. Conversations are going well, but I’m thankful to be where I am right now and that’s here.”
The Cowboys remain committed to Prescott, but team owner Jerry Jones also hasn’t expressed any urgency to get the contract situation handled with their star quarterback.

Although he has been unable to get the Cowboys over the hill in the playoffs, he has brought stability. Dallas has earned playoff berths in the last three consecutive seasons, including garnering a pair of NFC East division titles.
If the Cowboys are unable to take the next step forward toward Super Bowl contention, there could be much change on the horizon next offseason.
