Cowboys Wide Out Allen Hurns Has Surgery Following Severe Ankle Injury

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns underwent surgery late Saturday after suffering a serious left ankle injury during the first quarter of the Cowboys 24-22 win over the Seattle Seahawks said team owner Jerry Jones.

Dallas head coach Jason Garrett described Hurns’ injury as significant but one source said it is expected that Hurns would be ready to play again by August if no complications occur.

Halfway through the first quarter, Hurns was tackled after making a catch and had his leg wrenched and while lying on his stomach his left foot could be seen pointing upward.

The players around Hurns at the time, immediately clear away as the medical staff for Dallas ran to Hurns and quickly put his leg into an air cast.

Players on both teams went up to Hurns as he was being stretchered off the playing field to offer support. Hurns in turn raised a fist to the Dallas crowd while being stretched toward the locker room.

During the just completed regular season, Hurns has 20 receptions for 295 yards and a pair of touchdowns after signing a contract of two years with Dallas during the offseason as a free agent.

During the final home game for the Cowboys during the regular season December 23 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tyron Crawford a defensive lineman was taken off the field on a stretcher following a neck injury. Crawford returned on Saturday for his first action since the injury.

Dallas wide receiver Cole Beasley hurt his right ankle on his first reception of the game Saturday but returned to play. For most of the last month of the season, Beasley has played with a right foot sprain.

Beasley said he thought he would be fine but would need a bit of time for his ankle to calm down and then would be ready to go.
