Dolphins GM Makes Firm Declaration on De’Von Achane’s Future
The Miami Dolphins have spent the entire offseason retooling the roster toward a full rebuild.
However, the Dolphins have made it clear that they plan to move forward with Pro Bowl running back De’Von Achane as a key piece. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan said Miami has no interest in trading Achane.
“He’s not available for trade,” Sullivan said via ESPN. “Things are going good — we’ve had some positive conversations over the past couple days, trending in the right direction. He’s obviously very important to what we’re doing … We’ll get to where we need to be, one way or another.”
The Dolphins may be heading into a clear rebuild, but it’s a direction that has Achane as the key offensive piece to build around. He’s coming off a career-best campaign where he recorded a career-high 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
His production hasn’t just been top-notch last season, as since he entered the league in 2023, he leads all skill players with 5.6 yards per carry and is 7th with 98.5 scrimmage yards per game.

The 24-year-old is a foundational piece the Dolphins envision building their era around, alongside offseason addition Malik Willis, under new head coach Jeff Hafley.
What Sullivan’s remarks also suggest is that the team plans on working toward an extension to keep Achane for the long haul. The Texas A&M product is in the final year of his $5.4 million rookie contract, which would suggest a new deal may be on the horizon ahead of the 2026 campaign.
