Eagles acquire veteran QB Andy Dalton in trade with Panthers
The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to put together the right team to bounce back in 2026 after failing to live up to expectations last season, leading to many questions about what the team will do during the NFL offseason.
Although not a massive game-changing move, the Eagles chose to make a trade with the Carolina Panthers to add some depth to the quarterback room. Philadelphia has now acquired veteran journeyman quarterback Andy Dalton in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.
The Eagles acquired veteran quarterback Andy Dalton from the Panthers in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
This move won’t create any quarterback controversy in Philadelphia, as one-time Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts has that spot locked up. However, it does add some experience and a player who can be a viable starter if Hurts suffers an injury, so it is a step in the right direction for the Eagles, especially with Sam Howell moving on to the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
Philadelphia has long prioritized stocking its quarterbacks room. Sam Howell’s departure in free agency to the Cowboys created an opening alongside franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee.
The real question moving forward for the Eagles is what does the immediate future hold for superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has been rumored to be on the trading block, with quite a few interested teams.

There’s a chance the Eagles could move on from Brown if the right trade scenario pops up during this offseason.
