Eagles’ DeSean Jackson urges NFL to put microphones on players

The NFL has continued to move toward keeping the 2020 season going as scheduled. This is despite the lingering concern over the coronavirus. That path will likely lead the league to have to play games without fans in attendance because of precautionary measures. With that in mind, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson has proposed that he believes the NFL should mic up the players during the games. “Yeah, it’s gonna get crazy. I think they should, though,” said the Eagles WR. “They should give the fans the inside to really see what goes on between the white lines. It gets crazy, bro. I know in the trenches it gets crazy, and I know out there on the outside it gets crazy too with the conversations we going back and forth on.”

That could create a significant entertainment value as fans often wonder what is being said on the field during games. At the same time, there is likely much that isn’t suitable for television due to the language used. There is a much different dialogue used than what is picked up through the microphones on the field.

Depending on what direction things are heading as the 2020 season draws closer, it could be an idea that the NFL could consider to draw more viewership. It’s too early to determine if the upcoming campaign will go as planned, but if things trend in that direction, the league could look into other possible options on the table for additional entertainment for fans.
