Giants RB Saquon Barkley dealing with ‘ordinary’ ankle sprain
New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley entered the 2023 NFL season with high hopes. Following an offseason contract dispute, he resolved to produce at a high level on the field while staying fit. That isn’t going too well, with Barkley already dealing with an ankle injury after Week 2.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Barkley is battling an ankle injury that is expected to keep him out for the next three weeks.

An MRI showed that New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley suffered an “ordinary” ankle sprain that now is expected to sideline him three weeks, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.
This is a costly loss for the Giants, who have started the season roughly following an embarrassing loss to the division-rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. As well as that, they barely got by the lowly Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Barkley said the following about his situation in New York before heading into the season after he signed a one-year deal with the team.

“Obviously, my contract stuff and everything was public and talked about,” Barkley said recently. “I would turn on the TV and I’m seeing myself being talked about. But for me, all that’s in the past. Like I said, once I made that mindset to come here, you’ve got to be mature about it. No hard feelings about it.
“So now, my back’s against the wall again. I’ve got to go out there and prove it. I’m going to go out there and play my heart out, compete at a high level and do what I do best, not only for myself but for my teammates.”
Hopefully for Barkley’s sake, he can get back on the field sooner rather than later and help this team get back on track as one of the best squads in the NFC.
