Jaguars to change Travis Hunter’s role on offense
The Jacksonville Jaguars are finally primed to give rookie Travis Hunter a sizable role within the offense.
Head coach Liam Coen stated that the team is game-planning more plays to utilize Hunter as a primary option in the passing game.
“Scheming him open is part of it, No. 1,” Coen said via ESPN. “Our job as an offensive staff [is] to make sure we’re putting him in the progression and putting him in the position to be No. 1 [option] a little bit more often in some ways.
“And then when he is the primary [option], we’ve got to throw and catch. We’ve got to make sure that we identify it, find him, be able to be at the right spot at the right time. So I think it’s a combination of a lot of those things that ultimately can all be controlled.”
Up to this point, Hunter has shown flashes of his playmaking ability with both long contested receptions and breaking big plays on short throws.

His role has fluctuated over the first several weeks as he’s coming off posting just four catches for 15 receiving yards in the Week 6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Hunter has posted 20 receptions on 31 targets for 197 receiving yards and zero touchdowns in the first six games.
The Jaguars are set to face a tough Los Angeles Rams defense on Sunday in London, but they have let up at times, allowing opposing wide receivers to have a significant impact. Hunter could be primed for a breakthrough outing that Jacksonville needs to get back on track.
