Jamal Adams would ‘love’ to return to the Jets
Former Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams remains afloat in free agency, searching for his next NFL home.
Years after a complicated move from the New York Jets, the franchise that selected him sixth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, he is open to a reunion if it’s in the cards.
“I would love to be back with the Jets and, obviously, finish it the right way,” he said Wednesday night in a chat with Jets fans on the social media platform X via ESPN. “Man, that would be a dream come true, just to patch up that relationship and kind of make it right.”
Although Adams’ tenure with the Jets didn’t end well, he still holds fond memories of it. He put together his best seasons, which included earning a pair of Pro Bowl selections and a First-Team All-Pro in 2019.
Tension arose between both sides as Adams became disgruntled with the team’s direction and wanted to become the league’s highest-paid safety. The Jets’ front office didn’t agree with those aspirations, leading them to trade the star safety to the Seattle Seahawks.

Adams garnered a four-year, $70 million contract extension from the Seahawks and earned a Pro Bowl selection in his first season there. However, he struggled with injuries over the next three years, limiting him to just 22 games played before he was released.
Since then, he’s bounced around playing for the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions last season. Although he isn’t the player he once was, a return to the Jets could be what helps him get his career back on track.
