Jerry Jones gives update on contract talks with Cowboys’ Micah Parsons
As the offseason moves along, Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons remains without a new deal.
However, it appears that Parsons and the organization are progressing toward working out an extension. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones voiced that there is mutual ground on “most of the issues.”
“Most of the issues we are in agreement on. We discussed it all,” Jones said Tuesday during a break in the NFL’s annual meeting at The Breakers resort via ESPN. “But we obviously don’t have an agreement relative to the new contract.”
Jones also added that the length of the contract, amount of guaranteed money, and overall money are all agreed upon. What remains is working through the finer details between Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones and Parson’s agent.
The Cowboys are inching ever so closer to getting their star pass rusher under a long-term deal. It’s something that Jones has aired concerns about over the last several months.
Parsons hasn’t voiced any desire to leave the team, which has likely given Dallas more time to get an extension sorted out with him.
At the same time, the Cowboys’ decision to wait this long has only raised the contract value even higher, especially after former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett became the league’s highest-paid non-quarterback earlier this offseason at a $40 million salary.

That was quickly followed by the Cincinnati Bengals taking it a step up by giving star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase a $40.25 million average salary in his new deal.
All of this should result in a massive payday ahead for Parsons that will keep him in Dallas for the long haul.
