Jets QB Zach Wilson set to miss some time to start the season
The New York Jets are set to begin the 2022 season without second-year quarterback Zach Wilson under center.
The BYU product is currently sidelined, recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery. As a result he will be forced to stay off the field until at least Week 4. Head coach Robert Saleh has voiced that the team will continue to monitor the situation with the utmost importance of letting the young quarterback be entirely ready before he returns.

“We’re going to make sure mind and body are 110 percent and make sure we do right by him,” Saleh said of Wilson via ESPN. “We feel like, from talking to the doctors and everyone, it’s going to be that Pittsburgh week.”
The Jets will turn to Joe Flacco to fill the void while Wilson recovers. The injury that Wilson is dealing with was originally deemed as a two-to-four week recovery timetable. However, New York is taking the precautionary approach to avoid a setback
The Jets want to see what the 23-year-old can offer in his second campaign after experiencing an injury-plagued rookie campaign. The franchise is hopeful that he can become the quarterback the team can build the roster around.

He has shown flashes of promise but struggled with his decision-making at times, while the Jets’ lack of consistent pass protection didn’t help. New York will have to wait and see if Wilson can make the necessary adjustments and improvements in his game to become a franchise cornerstone.
