Kyle Shanahan has no desire to leave the 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have endured an arduous season filled with significant injuries and consistency, but that hasn’t affected head coach Kyle Shanahan’s commitment to the franchise.
The 49ers’ longtime coach stamped his desire to stay with the organization for the foreseeable future.
“I don’t want to be any place in the world more than here,” Shanahan said via ESPN. “My family feels just as strong if not a lot stronger. I hope you guys are going to have to kick me out of here.”
Since taking the job before the 2016 campaign, Shanahan has helped transform the 49ers into much more than a playoff constant. In his first eight seasons, he has guided the team to four NFC championship game appearances and two Super Bowl trips.
That includes three straight NFC title game berths and coming off the second Super Bowl appearance. In eight-plus seasons, he holds a 70-58 regular season record and an 8-4 mark in the playoffs.
Although San Francisco faces an uphill battle to reach the playoffs over the last month of the season, there remains a path that could see them vie for the NFC West division title or a wildcard spot.

Injuries have plagued the 49ers throughout the year, headlined by star running back Christian McCaffrey missing most of the season. McCaffrey is in danger of sitting out the remaining stretch due to a PCL injury.
Time will tell what will unfold ahead, but what’s certain is that it will see Shanahan at the helm in San Francisco for the future ahead.
