Kyler Murray’s future with Cardinals remains uncertain
As the Arizona Cardinals moved through the early portion of the offseason, there remains uncertainty around quarterback Kyler Murray’s future.
The outlook became a little fuzzier after ESPN reported that Murray and general manager Monti Ossenfort haven’t spoken since the end of the season. However, Ossenfort spoke on Tuesday at the NFL combine, saying he spoke with Murray about last season and what he wants in the future.
“Yeah, I’ve always had a good dialogue with Kyler,” Ossenfort said via ESPN. “And I’d say [last season] wasn’t up to what Kyler wanted. It wasn’t up to what any of us wanted as a season as a whole.
“And, so, when you have the kind of year that we had, there’s a lot of room for improvement, and so we got to find a way to do that, not only at that position, in all positions, but that’s what we’re all focused on, is getting better and moving forward.”
Ossenfort’s remarks don’t necessarily breathe confidence into the notion that Murray will, without a doubt, be back with Arizona next season.
He has struggled to stay on the field over the last couple of seasons, playing in only five games in 2025 after suffering a foot injury in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

Even when he has been healthy, the Cardinals have struggled to take strides forward with him under center. All this has led many to believe that the organization will explore all its options with Murray, including trading him if it’s best for the long-term future.
Ultimately, time will tell if that means he will remain in Arizona.
