In these NFL power rankings, we ponder who the top five receivers are in the AFC heading entering the 2022 season.
5. Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers
Allen has been one of the most underrated players in the NFL power rankings for years now, but he continues to keep producing on an elite level. The veteran of nine years with the Chargers put forth another excellent campaign in 2021, totaling 106 catches for 1,138 yards and six touchdowns, helping Los Angeles’ offense be one of the best. With Justin Herbert entering his third season at quarterback, and Mike Williams opposite him, Allen could be in line for his best season yet.

4. Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills
Diggs led the NFL in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535) in 2020, and while he didn’t replicate the feat in ’21, he still have a terrific year for the AFC East-champion Bills. The two-time Pro Bowler went for 103 catches and 1,225 yards to help Buffalo reach the AFC Divisional round, where it lost a heartbreaker to the Kansas City Chiefs. Paired once again with quarterback Josh Allen, Diggs is the top target in the Bills’ attack and should have a splendid season.
3. Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals
Chase broke onto the scene as a rookie and proved he’s already among the game’s very best. The No. 5 pick overall in 2021 out of LSU, Chase combined with former college teammate, quarterback Joe Burrow, to amass 81 receptions, 1,455. yards and 13 touchdowns, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl honors. Entering his second season, there’s no reason to think Chase’s numbers will go down after another full offseason and the Bengals beefing up their offensive line, affording Burrow more time.

2. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
Now we get to a pair of faces in new places, starting with Hill. The Chiefs shocked the football world by dealing Hill to the Dolphins in March, getting five draft picks in return. Through his six NFL seasons, Hill is a three-time, First-Team All-Pro and has made the Pro Bowl each year. Last season, he racked up a career-high 111 catches for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns. The big question is how impacted he is going from Patrick Mahomes to Tua Tagovailoa?
1. Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
Adams holds the top spot for a conference he is yet to play for. However, he’s the clear choice. The former Green Bay Packers star once again was a First-Team All-Pro last year, registering 123 catches for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s been the best receiver in football over the last two years and although he’s going from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr, don’t expect a big drop-off in production.
