NFL Week 17: What’s at stake?

Let’s run down all the Week 17 games on the NFL slate for Sunday, looking at what each means in the grand scheme of things…

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills

Buffalo and Miami are both eliminated from postseason contention. The Dolphins are likely playing their last game with Ryan Tannehill, who is expected to be released this offseason. The Bills are certainly playing their last game with Kyle Williams, who is retiring at season’s end.

New York Jets at New England Patriots

The Jets are finishing up the Todd Bowles era. Meanwhile, the Patriots are trying to lock up a first-round bye with a win at home, giving them a perfect record at Gillette Stadium this season.

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers need to win the game and get some help. It means absolutely nothing for the Bengals.

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens

Cleveland is trying to enjoy a winning season for the first time since 2007 when they went 10-6 under Romeo Crennel. Baltimore would clinch the AFC North with a win, reaching the playoffs for only the second time since 2012.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans

Houston wins the AFC South and would be no worse than a third seed with a win. The Jaguars are playing for nothing.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans

This is simple. The winner of this game goes to the playoffs, very likely as the sixth seed. The loser goes home.

Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos

This is the end for Vance Joseph in Denver. The Chargers can get home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win and a Kansas City loss.

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs can wrap up the No. 1 seed with a win. The Raiders are attempting to go 4-3 in their final seven games of the season.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants

There is nothing at stake in this game. Dallas is the No. 4 seed in the NFC.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins

The Eagles need to win and get a loss from the Vikings to end up as the NFC’s sixth seed. Washington is playing out the string.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers

This game couldn’t mean less.

Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings need to win to clinch. wild card berth. Chicago can become the No. 2 seed with a win and a Los Angeles loss.

Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The last game for Dirk K0etter as coach of the Buccaneers.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints.

The last game for Ron Rivera as coach of the Panthers.

San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams can clinch the second seed with a win.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks would clinch the fifth seed with a victory. This is likely Steve Wilks last game as a head coach for the Cardinals.
