NFL Week 2 odds: Making a case for the favorite

NFL Week 2 kicks off tonight with Thursday Night Football. We take a look at the NFL Week 2 slate and make a case for betting the favorite.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (-7)

The Panthers and Buccaneers each need a win, but Carolina is home and has Cam Newton. The difference of quarterbacks in this one is striking.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers (-4)

The Steelers are desperate and at home. Pittsburgh was embarrassed in New England and will come out with its best effort.

Dallas Cowboys (-5) at Washington Redskins

Dallas is simply a much better team. The Redskins will fight because it’s early in the season and the rivalry is real, but the Cowboys will move the ball at will.

Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Detroit Lions

The Chargers are comically better than Detroit, even with all the injuries. Los Angeles should be able to get pressure all night on Matthew Stafford.

Buffalo Bills (-1.5) at New York Giants

What isn’t there to like about the Bills’ defense. Might be very hard for Eli Manning to throw for any significant yardage.

New England Patriots (-19) at Miami Dolphins

This doesn’t need an explanation. This game will be over by the end of the first quarter.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans (-3)

Tennessee opened up plenty of eyes on Sunday with its beating of the Cleveland Browns. At home against a limited quarterback, you have to like the Titans here.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-9)

The Texans have Deshaun Watson and a quality defensive front going against a sixth-round rookie quarterback in Gardner Minshew. He was terrific in Week 1, but can he repeat on the road?

San Francisco 49ers at Cincinnati Bengals (-2)

Cincinnati really showed it can hang with good teams on Sunday in a 21-20 loss to the Seahawks. They can certainly beat San Francisco at home.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-3)

The Packer are at home and with the much better quarterback. If the defense. plays anywhere close to the Week 1 showing, look out.

Arizona Cardinals at Baltimore Ravens (-13)

The Ravens should have no problem moving to 2-0. Arizona is plucky, but this is a tall task for the young Cardinals.

Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at Oakland Raiders

The Chiefs might score on every possession. Tough to see the Raiders slowing them down.

Chicago Bears (-2.5) at Denver Broncos

Better team, desperate, playing a bad team.

New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams (-2.5)

The Rams are playing in their home opener, and they should be able to score at will. New Orleans’ defense looked horrible even in a win against the Texans on Monday night.

Philadephia Eagles (-1.5) at Atlanta Falcons

The Eagles are going to control the line of scrimmage in both phases. Tough to overcome that for Atlanta.

Cleveland Browns (-2.5) at New York Jets

The Browns are the better team and getting a banged-up Jets defense. Should be a big day for Baker Mayfield.
