NFL Week 8 2022: A case for each underdog

The NFL Week 8 lines are here, and we’re making a case for every underdog to cover their spreads, and in some cases, win outright.

Baltimore Ravens (-1.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers’ offense has been awful, but at some point, one imagines Tom Brady breaks out. At home and in primetime is a good bet.

Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars (-3)

Ummm… maybe being on a different continent will help Denver’s offense?

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-4.5)

The Panthers are showing grit behind quarterback P.J. Walker and interim head coach Steve Wilks. They should cover in a game between two teams not separated by much in terms of talent.

Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys (-10.5)

Chicago just waxed the Patriots in Foxboro on Monday night. There’s no reason the Bears can’t make this a close, low-scoring game.

Miami Dolphins (-3) at Detroit Lions

The Lions are going to score some points, because both defenses aren’t good. On Sunday, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa almost threw four interceptions. Maybe Detroit snags a few.

Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)

Don’t believe in the Vikings to cover, ever. Minnesota is 5-1, but it seems every game comes down to a few plays. Love the hook here.

Las Vegas Raiders (-2) at New Orleans Saints

The Saints have scored points and should do so once again facing the Raiders. The big key will be getting stops against Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Derek Carr.

New England Patriots (-2.5) at New York Jets

The Jets are the better team, even with a few injuries. New England doesn’t have a quarterback to rely on.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles (-10.5)

Pittsburgh isn’t good, but the Steelers have been tough to beat the last two weeks — covering both times –including a surprise upset over the Buccaneers.

Tennessee Titans (-1.5) at Houston Texans

The Texans are in every game they play. This is a home divisional game against a team without much firepower.

Washington Commanders at Indianapolis Colts (-3)

Somehow, Washington finally has the quarterback advantage.

San Francisco 49ers (-1.5) at Los Angeles Rams

Can the Rams cook something up over the bye? Look for Los Angeles to throw quick and have the defense be aggressive against Jimmy Garoppolo.

New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks (-3)

Stop doubting the 6-1 Giants, who win week after week. This should be a really close game. Take the points.

Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills (-10.5)

The Packers know if they don’t play worlds better, they’ll get boatraced against the Bills. That alone should coax a quality performance from what is a talented roster.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Cleveland Browns

It’s Last Chance Saloon time for the Browns. It’s a rivalry game, at home, and Cleveland will try to run the ball relentlessly.
