Peyton Manning isn’t ruling out being an NFL analyst one day

Since Peyton Manning retired, there hasn’t been a clear-cut picture of what his next career would be following his playing days.

That has led to much speculation over the last several months that he could entertain becoming a broadcaster for NFL games. Manning has shut down those possibilities for the 2020 season, but he voiced on the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday morning that he’s isn’t shutting the door on that scenario. “I haven’t said ‘no’ forever,” Manning said. “I said ‘no’ to this year. This just doesn’t feel like the right time. I hate having this sort of ‘check-with-me-next-year type deal,’ but that’s really how I have approached this chapter. I believe in taking it a year at a time.”

Peyton Manning had job opportunities in front of him this offseason with CBS, ESPN, and NBC pursuing him with lucrative offers. However, future Hall of Famer elected to pass up on all of those offers in broadcasting.

It may simply be that Manning is first gauging how that career field works before he fully immerses himself into that craft. Although Tony Romo showed tremendous ability to adjust to that role, it’s not one that comes with ease, ask Jason Witten.

Fellow future Hall of Famer Drew Brees is going that path when he retires, but there is a learning curve for him when he gets to that point. Ultimately, it could be a matter of time before Manning is in a broadcast booth.
