Raiders officially hire, introduce new head coach Klint Kubiak
The Las Vegas Raiders have secured their next head coach as the team officially hired Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
Kubiak is coming off an impressive campaign with the Seahawks, where he helped Sam Darnold orchestrate one of the league’s most productive offenses. Seattle ranked third with 28.4 points, eighth in total yards (351.4), eighth in passing yards (228.1), 10th in rushing yards (123.3), and 13th in offensive efficiency (50.76).
Now he’s set to help the Raiders regain their relevance after another disappointing season, finishing with a 3-14 record. Kubiak emphasized the historic nature of the franchise, which made his decision straightforward.
“This is no ordinary job,” said Kubiak via Seattle Sports. “This is the silver and black. This is the Raiders. This is a historic franchise. So when the opportunity came up to stay in Seattle and continue there or to have a chance to come here and compete with this organization, it was a no-brainer.”
One of his first tasks will be helping determine what Las Vegas does with the first overall pick, as the presumption is that the organization will take Heisman trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

The Raiders lack a sense of direction, which could make Mendoza the clear-cut selection to lead the franchise forward. Kubiak could play a significant role in molding the Indiana product into being the cornerstone under center.
Las Vegas wants a fresh new era ahead that will finally see the team move toward sustained success, and that could very well begin with the first overall pick in this year’s draft.
