Raiders shutdown Pro Bowl TE Brock Bowers
The 2025 campaign took another disappointing turn for the Las Vegas Raiders after placing star tight end Brock Bowers on the season-ending injured reserve.
It had been an injury-riddled season for Bowers, who had been working through a knee injury for the last six weeks. Before that, he had suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury and a bone bruise in his left knee that happened in the Raiders’ season-opening win over the New England Patriots.
Bowers missed three weeks to recover, and despite all the limitations, he still managed to put together a productive campaign. He led the Raiders in receptions (64), receiving yards (680), and receiving touchdowns (seven). This included him posting four touchdowns in the last four games.
With his season ending prematurely prevents him from potentially breaking the NFL record for most receiving yards by a tight end through their first two seasons. He was only 107 receiving yards short of surpassing Hall of Famer Mike Ditka.
All of that helped him earn his second straight Pro Bowl selection to begin his NFL career.
The first year under head coach Pete Carroll has been nothing short of a frustrating season for the Raiders, who will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year. Las Vegas is headed toward garnering another top 10 selection in next year’s draft, putting more cloud over the long-term future of the franchise.

It could lead to another offseason with much change, potentially seeing the team heading in another direction under center after Geno Smith’s porous performance.
