Rams newcomer Clay Matthews claims the ‘energy’ with LA team is different
In the last two years under head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams have become a powerhouse in the NFL.
Much of this has come about due to the culture that they have created with their core roster and coaching. This is an aspect of the team that recently acquired star outside linebacker Clay Matthews has quickly noticed about the Rams, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.
“Obviously, I’ve only played for one team, but there’s something different — an energy around here — and I think that stems from being successful, but that ultimately comes from the right people being on this team,†Matthews said, via Clarence Dennis of the team website. “The thing is that when you have a young team, you have to make sure you have that right core of players and veteran leadership.â€
This is quite intriguing given that Matthews spent the first 10 years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, who have been one of the most historic franchises in NFL history. It shows the definite imprint that McVay has made with the Rams quickly turning them into a formidable force in the league that has the culture and environment to back that up.
Matthews inked a two-year deal with the team in free agency and has a chance to play a big part in their pass rushing presence. His addition is yet another veteran presence to their defense that already includes Aaron Donald, Aqib Talib, Michael Brockers, and Marcus Peters.
With Matthews feeling youthful and re-energized with his new team, it could set forth for a strong 2019 season.
