Rob Gronkowski on Patriots minicamp: ‘I’ll be there’
The New England Patriots have had a rough NFL offseason thus far. If it wasn’t bad enough that rumors have been circulating about discord in the front office, the team has had to deal with the uncertain futures of superstars Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
Brady isn’t thrilled about the appreciation or lack thereof he’s getting from the organization and Gronkowski appeared to be seriously considering retirement. Although there’s no telling how Brady’s situation with the team will turn out, Gronkowski has let it be known he’s returning for the 2018 NFL season and will be at mandatory minicamp later this month, via ESPN.
“We’ve got mandatory minicamp this week. So I’ll be there this week. I’ll be full go. I’m looking forward to it. Can’t wait to get back to work. I’m excited,” Gronkowski told reporters from the ninth annual Buzz Off charity event for kids with cancer at Gillette Stadium.
Gronkowski’s biggest concern right now is his contract situation with the Patriots. The perennial Pro Bowler wants to rework his deal for the upcoming season and if he’s attending minicamp as he says, it may not be a major issue.
As for Brady, the five-time Super Bowl champion is also expected at minicamp which is obviously a good sign for New England.
Quarterback Tom Brady, who also hadn’t attended the Patriots’ OTAs, also is expected to be at this week’s minicamp, owner Robert Kraft has said.
New England is fully expected to be a legitimate title contender once again next season. Although the Patriots lost a few notable players like Danny Amendola, Brandin Cooks, and Nate Solder, Brady and company always seem to make it work.
