Steelers’ DK Metcalf Learns His Fate After Ford Field Altercation
Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf will not face criminal charges from his altercation with a fan at Ford Field during a game last December against the Detroit Lions.
In a statement given to the Detroit Free Press via ESPN, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office outlined that there wasn’t enough to charge Metcalf.
“At approximately 5:30 p.m., it is alleged that [Kennedy] left his seat holding a Metcalf jersey to get an autograph. As he approached the front railing of the stands, he said something to Mr. Metcalf. As Mr. Metcalf approached the stands, there was a brief interaction where Mr. Metcalf grabbed his shirt and pushed him back,” the statement also said.
“After an extensive review of all the relevant evidence, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has determined that charges will not issue in this case.”
Metcalf can now move on from the situation that resulted in his suspension for two games without pay, the forfeiture of more than $500,000 in game checks, and, more importantly, the voiding of his $45 million guarantees.
The Steelers acquired Metcalf in a trade last March in exchange for a 2025 second-round selection and a 2025 seventh-round pick.

Immediately after the move, he signed a four-year, $132 million extension with the Steelers that included $60 million in total guarantees and a $30 million signing bonus, keeping him under contract through the 2029 season.
In his first year with Pittsburgh, he recorded 59 catches on 99 targets for 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 15 games.
