Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger flirts with prospect of retirement once again

The Pittsburgh Steelers were the last team in the NFL to record a loss as Ben Roethlisberger and company were able to fly under the radar and start the 2020 season with a record of 11-0.

Unfortunately, since snapping their win streak against the Washington Football Team, the team has started a losing streak by falling to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Roethlisberger seems to be taking the brunt of the blame for the team’s loss to the Bills and is also flirting with the prospect of retiring once again, via ESPN.

“If I don’t play good enough football, then I need to hang it up,” he said. “I still feel like I can do enough things to help this team win football games, and I’ll do everything I can to get us back on track.”

Over the last few years, Roethlisberger has considered walking away from the game after dealing with multiple injuries. This time around it is a knee injury that has been bothering the two-time Super Bowl champion. This injury has the team concerned internally and it seems as though the veteran is also concerned enough to mention hanging it up.

Despite Roethlisberger’s recent struggles and the two-game losing streak, the Steelers have already clinched a playoff spot in the AFC with their 11-2 record.

The Steelers will face two divisional opponents in the last three games. Pittsburgh will go head to head against the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns to finish their regular-season schedule.
