Tom Brady is ‘surprised’ Bill Belichick didn’t get a coaching job
After Bill Belichick’s tenure with the New England Patriots ended, it was expected that he would continue coaching elsewhere in the NFL.
However, that didn’t come to fruition leaving him on the outside looking in for the first time in over two decades. All that has surprised former star quarterback Tom Brady.
“I don’t know the criteria for hiring coaches. I’ve never been a part of it,” Brady said this week on his “Let’s Go!” podcast via ESPN. “I mean, I’m surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn’t have a job, absolutely. But I’m surprised [by] a lot of things in the NFL.”
Belichick reportedly had a few teams interested in hiring him. The Atlanta Falcons interviewed him twice but chose to hire Raheem Morris instead.
Even with that opening closing, the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks both chose to fill their vacancies with Mike MacDonald and Dan Quinn.
Belichick’s resume speaks for itself: He has 333 career wins, including six Super Bowl victories. However, that hasn’t translated into him continuing his NFL coaching career.

The 71-year-old’s coaching plans are not clear, but what may happen is that he could wait until next offseason to latch onto another franchise once the coaching carousel opens up again.
It gives him the chance to hone in on what could be a better situation for him.
Whether Belichick coaches again or not, his first-ballot Hall of Fame resume has cemented him as one of the NFL’s greatest head coaches.
