Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic reacts to Jamal Murray’s All-Star nod
On Sunday, before the Denver Nuggets faced the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder at Ball Arena, the team got some good news about one of their best players, with star guard Jamal Murray getting named to the NBA All-Star team for the first time in his career, via ESPN.
Jamal Murray earned his first career All-Star berth in his ninth season Sunday. He and Jokic, who was named a starter last week, are the first pair of Denver Nuggets teammates selected to an All-Star Game since 2010, when Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups made it.
One Nuggets teammate, a perennial All-Star who was happy more than most for Murray, was three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
“It feels really good,” Jokic said. “He’s been playing at a really high level the last two years. … It’s good for him to be there because he’s supposed to be there.”
Murray is having a career year with the Nuggets, which couldn’t have come at a better time with Jokic missing so much time due to injury.

Jokic made it clear that he thinks very highly of Murray, as he puts the veteran point guard at the top of his list of the best teammates he’s played with.
“I wouldn’t trade him for anybody,” Jokic said. “Whenever I say who’s the top five of my career, he’s definitely No. 1. So, we have a great relationship on the floor. There’s so, so many good moments — bad moment, too — but that’s what creates good moments. So, it’s a pleasure to have him over there.”
The Nuggets are currently in third place in the Western Conference standings, behind the San Antonio Spurs and the Thunder. They will hope for another run at an NBA title in the playoffs with Jokic and Murray leading the way.
