Patrick Mahomes Gearing Up To Be Even Better in 2020
Reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes appears destined to be the dominant quarterback of the upcoming decade.
However, the 24 year old isn’t resting on his laurels. Patrick Mahomes has incredible talent and a team built to cater to him. That doesn’t mean Patrick Mahomes can stop improving though, and he’s outlined his improvement goals ahead of next season.
Mahomes has identified his play in the pocket as something that he can upgrade ahead of his fourth year.
“As I get on to it, and start working with my quarterback coach in quarterback drills, I’ll work on my footwork and work on that stuff where I can be better from the pocket, and keep getting better because that’s an area I still need to improve on,” he said.Â

“If I can get better there, extending plays is just a bonus.”
As well as that, he is spending the off-season looking after his body. The only thing that can halt his meteoric rise now is injury. Mahomes suffered an ankle injury as well as a dislocated kneecap last season.
“These first few weeks, I’ve really kind of been building the injury prevention stuff,” he said.

“The stuff I dealt with this year, with the ankle and with the knee, I’ve really been getting after that and trying to make sure that I can be 100 percent going into this next season, 120 percent, and ready to take on the impact of another entire football season. Every year is different, you’ve got to find ways to go out there and win football games. As of right now, (the offseason) has been about my body and getting myself in the best shape possible.”
It’s possible that Mahomes’ new contract will be signed ahead of next year, assuring his future as a Kansas City Chief. The age of Mahomes is truly beginning.
