Philadelphia 76ers Not Ruling Out Trading No. 3 Pick In NBA Draft

The Philadelphia 76ers are regulars at the top of the NBA Draft on an annual basis. This year is no different with the struggling franchise having the No. 3 pick come draft day on June 22, but this time around they may be looking to make a deal.

According to 76ers president Bryan Colangelo, the team isn’t ruling out the possibility of trading their lottery pick. In fact, they’ve heard some intriguing offers already, via Keith Pompey of Philly.com:

“I think that should we move or if there’s a transaction that comes out that gives us a chance to perhaps increase what impact No. 3 can have in terms of its return, I think we will look at it,” Colangelo said of a potential trade. “There’s some discussions that have been fairly interesting.”

As of right now, the first two picks in the upcoming draft seem to be fairly set in stone or at least there’s a consensus as to what two players will be off the board once the Sixers are on the clock. All signs point to the Boston Celtics going with Washington’s Markelle Fultz with the top pick followed by the Los Angeles Lakers likely choosing hometown product Lonzo Ball at second overall.

With those two players more than likely off the board, Philadelphia will have to settle for the best of the rest. Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox, Duke’s Jayson Tatum and Josh Jackson out of Kansas appear to be on a level playing field with any one of these three players potentially being taken at No. 3.

That being said, if Philadelphia doesn’t fall in love with one of these players or another top-tier prospect before the draft, a trade may be the direction they decide to go in.
