Redskins vs Eagles Preview and Prediction

A big NFC East showdown is on tap for today when the Washington Redskins visit the Philadelphia Eagles. The Redskins are in last place in the division but just a game and a half out of first. The Eagles are tied for first with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles have had their problems at home losing 10 straight home games, but with a win could move a ½ game in front of Dallas who is idle this week.

The Eagles at home this season are 0-4, but overall have won two straight following their 27-13 win last Sunday at Green Bay.

The Eagles overall are 5-5 SU and ATS, while the Redskins are 3-6 SU and ATS.

Nick Foles will be the starter at quarterback for Philly for the third consecutive week. Over his past two starts, Foles has thrown 10 touchdowns and no interceptions. His quarterback rating is 155.3 in those two games, including a perfect rating of 158.3 versus Oakland November 3.

Foles’ 16 passes for touchdowns this season is tied for eighth in the NFL, despite the fact he has started just four games. He has not thrown an interception all season.

Foles however has not played well in the past against Washington. This season he did not play in the opening game against Washington in which the Eagles won 33-27.

Last season he started both games against the Redskins and Philly lost both. In December, he threw a late interception in a game the Eagles lost 27-20.

Foles is 0-4 in four starts at home and has lost all six home games he has appeared in at home.

Despite having troubles playing at home, Philadelphia is No. 4 in the league in total offense averaging 413 yards a game. They lead the league in rushing with an average of 153 yards per game. LeSean McCoy, the Eagles running back leads the NFL in rushing with 932 yards.

Washington is 1-4 on the road this season after losing their last time out to Minnesota 34-27.

Last year they had the same record after 9 games, but won seven straight to reach the playoffs.

The defense for the Redskins has been one of its biggest downfalls of the season. Washington is No. 31 in points allowed per game giving up nearly 32 each game. The Redskins are also No. 27 in the league in yards allowed at 388 per game.

Against Philly in his career, Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III has a 2-1 record with eight passes for touchdowns and three picks.

He has been criticized this season for the team’s start. This season’s big difference from last year is his six interceptions.

However, last week against Minnesota he may have had his best game this season with three passing touchdowns and no turnovers.

Pick: Philadelphia 35-31
