Durant’s decision on where he will play beginning next season could take well over a week.
In 2016, Durant invited NBA teams for formal presentations when he was last a free agent. However, his and his business manager’s knowledge on different teams, their owners, executives and rosters suggest a different less formal approach may be necessary beginning Sunday.
Durant as well as Kleiman have remained in New York since Durant’s Achilles tendon surgery and are planning to communicate from the Big Apple with teams, sources said.

Kevin Durant opted to decline his player option of $31.5 million. As a result, he is an unrestricted free agent as of June 30. Golden State is planning to offer the All-Star a max contract of five years and $221 million. The Nets, Knicks and Clippers are able to offer Durant up to a four-year deal worth $164 million.
Kevin Durant, who has been named NBA Finals MVP twice while playing with Golden State, torn his right Achilles during Game 5 of the recently completed NBA Finals and in all likelihood will sit out the entire 2019-20 NBA season to rehabilitate. Nevertheless, all of the teams pursuing Durant are expected to offer the NBA star max contracts.
