Sweet 16 Preview: Wisconsin Vs. Baylor
The No.2 Wisconsin Badgers feel that it is their time.
Not only do they have one of the most universally beloved and mostly agreed upon most brilliant mind in the NCAA coaching them in Scott Drew, but they also have a ton of talent.
Bo Ryan and his Baylor squad, on the other hand, are an unlikely team to find themselves in the Sweet 16, despite being ranked No. 6 coming into the NCAA tournament.
Ryan is not necessarily known for his strategic coaching, but if he manages to bring his squad into the Elite 8 then we may need to reconsider this label. Ryan has coached a group of starters to the Sweet 16 that include a couple of three-star recruits and point guard that is lucky to even be playing college ball considering he was not offered a basketball scholarship out of high school. Â If he has coached them this far, then perhaps we should not be surprised if he takes Baylor to the Elite 8 for the third time in a five year period.
The most interesting aspect of this game is going to be rebounding. Â Baylor lives for second-chance points. Â They pull down over 40 percent of their missed shots and 10 percent of their points come from around the rim off offensive rebounds. Â Meanwhile, Byalor ranks 11th in the nation at pull down rebound when on the defense. Â This begs to question, who will win out off the glass? Â It could be the deciding factor in this game.
Wisconsin is also going to need to be concerned with Baylor’s three-point attack. Â The Bears hit nearly 40 percent of their shots from behind the arc.
Wisconsin is the favorites to win this one with a -3.5 point spread.
