Veteran QB Michael Vick Wants To Play Three More Years In The NFL
After 12 seasons in the NFL, the immediate future of Michael Vick is uncertain to say the least. Vick is currently a free agent looking for work in the league, but has yet to find a new team following disappointing season with the New York Jets.
With the Jets moving on without Vick, the veteran quarterback will have to look elsewhere. Even though Vick has considered retirement in the offseason, the soon-to-be 35-year-old still want to play and is actively searching out the right place for him.
According to former Miami Dolphins wideout Chris Chambers, there’s quite a few teams that are interested in Vick’s services. Not only is Vick getting interest around the league, but the veteran wants to continue playing for three more years, via CBS Sports:
“He didn’t know if he wanted to play football again,” Chambers said. “There was a lot of political stuff with him and Geno Smith with the Jets last year. Last two weeks, he has done phenomenal. There are several teams that want him. He wanted to be on a winning team. He wants to play three years. Eventually, he wants to start again.”
In 10 games with the Jets last season, Vick threw for 604 passing yards and three touchdowns. The versatile quarterback also rushed for 153 yards on 26 carries without a rushing touchdown for the first time in his career. Vick started in only three games for New York with Geno Smith starting the other 13.
Although Vick is clearly past his prime, the veteran gunslinger might be able to give a team a solid option as a backup. The Buffalo Bills might be an intriguing option with no clear number one quarterback and Vick’s former head coach Rex Ryan now calling the shots.
