Southern Utah

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds Basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. The school's team currently competes in the Big Sky Conference. The Thunderbirds are coached by Todd Simon.

The Thunderbirds have appeared in the NCAA Tournament once, as tournament champions of the Mid-Continent Conference in 2001. Seeded fourteenth in the East regional, Southern Utah was eliminated in the first round, falling by three points to the third seed, seventh-ranked Boston College.

America First Event Center

America First Event Center is a -seat multi-purpose arena in Cedar City, Utah. It was built in 1985. It is home to the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds basketball, volleyball and gymnastics teams. The America First Event Center is also the centerpiece venue for the Utah Summer Games.
