NFL Week 1 odds: Making a case to bet the favorite

After another offseason of trades, contract disputes and training camp stories, NFL Week 1 is upon us. We take a look at some games to bet the favorite in NFL Week 1.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears (-3)

The Bears blew a 20-0 lead last year in NFL Week 1 against the Packers, in primetime no less. They’ll be extremely motivated between an ugly memory and the constant talk. of regression.

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings (-4)

Minnesota has one of the best rosters in football, and added two terrific coaches in Gary Kubiak and Rick Dennison. Look for the Vikings to run effectively on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens (-7) at Miami Dolphins

Baltimore has the fortune of drawing the league’s worst team. Play well, and the Dolphins are lucky to hit 10 points.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets (-3)

No team added ore this offseason. Le’Veon Bell, Ryan Kalil, Jamison Crowder, Quinnen Williams, C.J. Mosley and more. The Jets should be able to win at home against Buffalo.

Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Chiefs are arguably the league’s best team, and certainly its most explosive. It’s going to be tough for Nick Foles to keep up with Patrick Mahomes, regardless of the difference in defenses.

Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers

Jared Goff just got paid because he’s one of the league’s best. Cam Newton is also terrific but battling multiple injuries. The Rams should score against a suspect Carolina defense and do enough to contain Newton.

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns (-5.5)

The Browns are loaded for the first time in 25 years. They also face a Titans team without a top weapon and sans. star left tackle Taylor Lewan.

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles (-10)

Biggest mismatch of the week. The Eagles have decided advantages on both sides of the ball and get the Redskins at home, no less.

Cincinnati Bengals at Seattle Seahawks (-9.5)

The Bengals are in the beginning of a total rebuild. The Seahawks are, um, not.

Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5)

Without Andrew Luck, do the Colts have enough juice to hang with the Chargers in Los Angeles? Probably not.

Detroit Lions (-2.5) at Arizona Cardinals

Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray are making their debuts. Matt Patricia should be able to put his experience to good use and give Arizona its first defeat of 2019.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (-7)

New York is bereft of talent. The Cowboys just locked up Jaylon Smith, Ezekiel Elliott and La’El Collins long-term. Should be an easy win for Dallas.

San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (EVEN)

Let’s say San Francisco is the favorite since the game is EVEN and the Niners are on the road. In short, believe in Jimmy Garoppolo.

Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots (-5.5)

New England is virtually unbeatable in Gillette Stadium, and the Steelers never beat the Patriots. Simple.

Houston Texans at New Orleans Saints (-7)

Superdome. Monday Night Football. Better team. Saints are going to give Houston fits.

Denver Broncos (-1) at Oakland Raiders

The Broncos have what should be a terrific defense. The Raiders have a ton of new parts. Might not mesh yet against Vic Fangio’s group.
