Falcons expected to keep Matt Ryan and Julio Jones in Atlanta next season
The Atlanta Falcons decided to clean house during and after the 2020 NFL regular season concluded. The team has ushered in several new faces. As a result many have wondered whether star quarterback Matt Ryan would be the next to be sent packing.
The speculation has run rampant in Atlanta about Ryan’s future under center. Although it seems as though it can now be put to rest. The Falcons are expected to keep Ryan and star wide receiver Julio Jones on the roster for the 2021 campaign. That’s according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The dynamic duo of Ryan and Jones has been one of the best in the NFL but has failed to win it all or even be a consistent pair for the last couple of years. The team simply hasn’t been able to recover since collapsing in the Super Bowl against Tom Brady’s New England Patriots a few years ago.

It’ll be interesting to see how everything unfolds in Atlanta and whether the team’s stance to keep this talented veteran duo intact remains true ahead of the 2021 NFL season.
With so much movement expected and having already transpired in the league, especially at the quarterback position, the Falcons brass could change their tune if the right deal is presented to the team.
In 16 games in 2020, Ryan threw for 4,581 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Julio Jones finished the 2020 season, having played only nine games, racking up 771 yards and three touchdowns.
