NFL power rankings: Top 5 NFC quarterbacks
While the NFC has some rough quarterback play, the top end of the NFL power rankings is loaded with future Hall of Famers. This includes a couple of aging MVPs.
5. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Stafford changed teams this offseason after more than decade with the Detroit Lions. Despite his considerable talents, the Lions never won a division or playoff game with No. 9 at the helm. However, with the Rams, Stafford has a terrific roster around him including receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, along with one of the league’s best defenses. Despite being stuck with a poor team in 2020, Stafford still put up 4,084 yards with 26 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

4. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Prescott was well on his way to the best season of his young career before a nasty ankle injury in Week 5 knocked him out for the season. In a little more than four games, Prescott threw for 1,856 yards, somehow on pace for more than 6,000 yards. Of course, Prescott wasn’t getting to that number, but he showed enough over his first five seasons for the Dallas brass to give him a four-year, $160 million deal this offseason.
3. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks
Now we reach the elite quarterbacks in the conference. Wilson has been to a pair of Super Bowls, winning one of them. However, Â he hasn’t reached an NFC title game since the 2014 season despite being surrounded by some excellent teams in Seattle. Last year, Wilson was the MVP frontrunner through the first half of the campaign before a rash of turnovers ruined his chances. After launching 40 touchdown passes a year ago, Wilson has a chance to finally claim an MVP award.

2. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brady might be 44 years old, but he remains one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Somehow, Brady won his seventh Super Bowl ring last season, taking the Buccaneers through a gauntlet of a playoff journey. Now entering his second season in Tampa Bay, Brady is trying to win consecutive Super Bowls for the second time in his career. Â And frankly, who wants to bet against him?
1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers is at the top of his game. Last year, Rodgers won the MVP and had Green Bay staked to the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs before losing to Brady and the Bucs in the conference championship. If Rodgers stays healthy, he’s the NFC’s best signal-caller, showcased by his 4,299 passing yards and 48 touchdowns against five interceptions in 2020.
