NFL Week 4 schedule: 5 teams on upset alert

Looking over the NFL Week 4 schedule, there are a bevy of live underdogs. Yet of them all, these five favorites are in the hottest water.

5. Washington Football Team (-1.5) at Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons aren’t good, but they are coming off a win and now return home to take on another 1-2 squad. Washington has been awful so far this season, struggling offensively in two of its three games while ranking 31st in total defense. If the Falcons can get rookie tight end Kyle Pitts and star receiver Calvin Ridley going, it could be tough for Football Team quarterback Taylor Heinicke to keep pace down south.

4. Los Angeles Chargers (-3) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The Chargers have a case as the better team here, even though they’re 2-1 and the Raiders are one of the league’s five undefeated teams. However, Los Angeles is basically playing a road game at home, with streams of Raiders fans certainly ready to invade SoFi Stadium. Additionally, Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr has been brilliant this season, leading the NFL in passing yardage. If Carr gets going and the crowd gets loud against the hosts, things could get ugly for Justin Herbert and Co.

3. San Francisco 49ers (-2.5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are desperate. At 1-2 and featuring a two-game losing streak, Seattle needs to beat the Niners or start facing a serious climb in the loaded NFC West. Additionally, the Seahawks have the better quarterback in Russell Wilson, who should be able to hit receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett on the perimeter against a beat-up San Francisco corner group. The 49ers have a chance to win by pounding the ball against a hideous Seattle defense, but the Seahawks have the firepower to get it done.

2. Cleveland Browns (-2) at Minnesota Vikings

Expect a ton of points. The Browns were lit up by the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans were on par for 30 points in Week 2 before quarterback Tyrod Taylor was injured. Meanwhile, the Vikings are capable of putting up 30 points on anybody, a figure they’ve gone over each of the past two weeks. If Kirk Cousins continues playing well, he can outshine Baker Mayfield on Sunday at home.

1. Chicago Bears (-2.5) vs. Detroit Lions

The Lions might flat-out be the better team. After all, the Bears gained 47 yards against the Browns last week, and spent this week saying Nick Foles, Justin Fields or Andy Dalton could start under center. Not exactly a confidence builder for anybody involved.
