NFL Week 4 schedule: 5 QBs primed for huge games

Scanning the NFL Week 4 schedule, many quarterbacks are likely to go off. These five might be a cut above the rest come Sunday evening.

5. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Yes, another Mahomes appearance. Why not? The Chiefs are only 1-2 but Mahomes has been throwing the ball at will, even with a surprisingly high number of interceptions (3). Now, Kansas City goes into what is almost a must-win game against the overmatched Philadelphia Eagles, and if the Chiefs take a lead, expect Mahomes to keep the ball in his hands in hopes of protecting it. He could end up throwing 40 times even if Kansas City has a sizable advantage.

4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

The Bills welcome in the Houston Texans this weekend for what is their easiest game on paper. Houston has had 10 days to prepare after losing to the Carolina Panthers last Thursday, but does that matter much? The Texans don’t have the ability to. cover Buffalo’s dynamic receivers, and Allen should have all day and half the night to beat the pass rush. The only concern here is if Buffalo is up 30 points in the third quarter and yanks its starters.

3. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland goes into Minnesota for a date with the Vikings, in what could be the most high-scoring game of the weekend. Both the Vikings and Browns have ample weaponry, and look for Mayfield to get involved against a suspect secondary. If Minnesota lights up the scoreboard, Mayfield will be throwing plenty to keep the Browns in the game. Even without Jarvis Landry, he should put up big numbers.

2. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks go into San Francisco to face the 49ers in a critical contest. At 1-2, Seattle can either right the proverbial ship or fall into a deep hole in the NFL’s best division. For Russell Wilson, the way to a victory might be throwing constantly against the weak San Francisco secondary. If the Seahawks’ line can hold up, Wilson has advantages on the outside with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

1. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

How could Brady not take the top spot? Nobody has ever been more motivated for a regular season game, and Brady faces a New England Patriots team he knows incredibly well. Yes, Patriots coach Bill Belichick will have some wrinkles, but Brady has the better team with elite weapons. It’s going to be almost impossible for New England to slow him down on Sunday night.
