NFL Week 8 lines: Reason for each favorite to cover
With the NFL Week 8 lines out, we take a look at why each favorite can both win and cover its respective spread this weekend.
Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals (-6.5)
The Packers are missing Davante Adams and Allen Lazard due to COVID, and the Cardinals already have a top-five defense.
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-3)
Carolina hasn’t won since Week 3, and Sam Darnold has been so bad that P.J. Walker replaced him on Sunday against the Giants during a 25-3 loss.
Cincinnati Bengals (-10) at New York Jets
Have you seen the Jets? Enough said.
Los Angeles Rams (-14.5) at Houston Texans
See above, just substitute Texans in for Jets.
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills (-13.5)
Again, look above. The Dolphins have one win and it feels like they may not get another for awhile.
Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at Detroit Lions
The Lions are winless, but they’ve been playing tough. For the Eagles, it’s all bout getting pressure with their front four on quarterback Jared Goff.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-3.5)
Cleveland had three extra days to get healthy, and could be getting running back Nick Chubb on the field. Does Baker Mayfield join him? If so, the Browns are the better team.
San Francisco 49ers (-3.5) at Chicago Bears
The Bears can’t throw the ball, and San Francisco has a huge coaching advantage here. The Niners are clearly the better team and should get their first win since Week 2.
Tennessee Titans (-1) at Indianapolis Colts
Tennessee is rolling, beating both the Chiefs and Bills in a six-day span.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks (-3)
The Seahawks are welcoming in the one-win Jaguars. Even with Geno Smith under center, Seattle has a superior roster and coach.
New England Patriots at Los Angeles Chargers (-5.5)
After a bye week, the Chargers get Mac Jones and Co. coming across the country. Justin Herbert should be able to make plays against an underwhelming secondary.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5) at New Orleans Saints
Tom Brady is leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns. The Saints are a good team, but Jameis Winston is no match for this old mates.
Washington Football Team at Denver Broncos (-3)
Both teams stink, but the Broncos are at home. That’s all we’ve got.
Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Minnesota Vikings
The Cowboys are coming off a bye week — as is Minnesota — and with Dak Prescott healthy again, the offense should go for 30 points.
