49ers GM John Lynch Sends Blunt Message on Brandon Aiyuk’s Status

Although the San Francisco 49ers haven’t parted ways with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, the franchise is operating as if he is no longer a part of the organization.

During a recent media session on Saturday, general manager John Lynch outlined that Aiyuk will remain away from the team.

“Brandon is on a left squad designation,” Lynch said via ESPN. “As such, he’s not on our 90-man roster. And I’m personally, and we as an organization are going to focus on the players that are here. And so, I don’t have anything to say on that, anything to add to that. We wish him well. We wish his family well.”

Since the start of the offseason, the 49ers haven’t budged toward bringing Aiyuk back into the fray. Meanwhile, the veteran wideout hasn’t helped mend fences with his numerous social media posts, in which he has openly bashed the organization.

Since Aiyuk stopped showing up to the team’s training facility for rehab in December, he has been on the reserve/left team list. It led Lynch to voice, after the end of the season, that Aiyuk had played his final snap with the franchise.

The 49ers had hoped to find a trade, but that hasn’t materialized up to this point in the offseason. The Washington Commanders were known as the desired landing spot for Aiyuk due to his connection to quarterback Jayden Daniels.

However, his unpredictable behavior on social media and his damaged relationship with the 49ers have only increased the difficulty in finding a trade.
