Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles Out For The Season With Torn ACL
Matters continue to get worse for the Kansas City Chiefs with the struggling franchise losing arguably their best offensive weapon in running back Jamaal Charles. As if falling to 1-4 on the year wasn’t bad enough for the last place Chiefs, Charles suffered yet another severe knee injury.
According to ESPN, the Chiefs’ worst fears have come to fruition in terms of the severity of Charles’ injury. The veteran running back will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.
An MRI has confirmed what the Kansas City Chiefs feared during Sunday’s game: Running back Jamaal Charles has torn the ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season.
With Charles done for the year, the Chiefs will be hosting a few veteran running backs for workouts to help secure the position in the wake of Charles’ absence, via ESPN.
The Chiefs are bringing former New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas in for a workout, a source told Schefter. The team is also expected to work out Ben Tate. Kansas City has used Charcandrick West as its backup for Charles. West had seven rushes for 31 yards Sunday.
Following the devastating news about Charles’ missing the rest of the season, the Chiefs will get back to work in Week 6 going on the road to face the Minnesota Vikings. Kansas City will be underdogs heading into this matchup with the Vikings -3.5 point favorites, according to Sportsbook.ag.
The last four weeks of the season have been rough to say the least for the Chiefs. Kansas City has faced some of the best teams in the league over the past month or so going up against four undefeated teams in three consecutive weeks.
After beating the Houston Texans in Week 1, the Chiefs lost to the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals followed up by a disappointing loss to the lowly Chicago Bears in Week 5.
